Reports are either checked out to you (developer) or checked into the repository.

BI PLUS System Architecture

BI PLUS runs as a Client-Server web-based architecture. Browser sessions request information from the Server, and Server uses BI PLUS repository to pull information from a Database and deliver it to the client via HTTP. From the diagram above, we can see that there are always at least 2 connections involved. One of these connections is always to the BI PLUS Repository database, the other is the target database, which is any SQL compliant database.

Simple Drilldown

Drill down means to move from summary information to detailed data by focusing in on something. In a GUI-environment, “drilling-down” may involve clicking on some representation in order to reveal more detail. Drilling down is a hierarchical process in BIPLUS and it is a relatively easy process.

Till now we have seen drill-down configuration. Drill down is performed in a hierarchical fashion. The following diagram illustrates the hierarchical drilldown model. It shows that the top level report has 5 children (2A – 2E) and in that report 2C has 3 children (3A – 3C) and 3C has again 4 children. The hierarchy is defined via the parent keys on the report.

What is ETL?

ETL is a database-centric collection of processes that involves...

	* Extract: Extracting data from external sources. Most data warehousing projects consolidate data from different source systems. Each separate system may also use a different data organization/format. Some may use relation database or flat files. In general, the goal of the extraction phase is to convert the data into a single format which is appropriate for transformation processing.

Creating Write-back Report

Write Back is the ability to enter values directly into a report which are saved into write back the database and those values then might be used in calculations and charts in the report. Before creating any write-back report in BIPLUS one must enable this feature from Configuration Management (Admin menu ⇒ Repository Administration ⇒ Configuration Management ⇒ Defaults tab).
